Short Term Training

ABH organizes short and long term trainings at different levels including in-Service, pre-service, basic, and graduate levels. The trainings are centered on health and social science using nationally approved curricula in coordination with training packages. The trainings are given in collaboration with national and international training institutes.

ABH has rich experience with full capacity in carrying out multi-site parallel trainings and regional trainings throughout Ethiopia. ABH has the capacity to mobilize resourceful in-house and external trainers to implement large scale trainings in a rapid and efficient manner meeting tight deadlines.

ABH undertakes tasks in preparing guidelines, training packages and client support tools and materials in health and health related fields. ABH has qualified full time and part time professionals to lead the designing and preparation of short term courses in health and health related fields.

To mention few:

 

Training on Community Based Nutrition (CBN), Community Health Days (CHD) and Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) in 20 Weredas of Oromia Regional State March 2011 – July 2011. Description: The major objective of this assignment was to manage the entire initial training package on CBN, CHD and OTP roll-out in newly selected 20 Weredas in Oromia, which includes: Managing and conducting the Master training, Training to Trainers (TOT) for Health Workers and HEW’s and Supportive supervision of training of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in Limited Kebeles. Through the course of the different levels of trainings, ABH managed all logistic and administrative issues, including renting training halls, arranging refreshment and lunch to participants, paying per diem and other reimbursable on top of recruiting and assigning trainers/facilitators. ABH managed to train 958 health Extension Workers (HEWs) and 40 Master Trainers in less than three months.

Provide roll out of trainings on Injection Safety and Healthcare Waste Management for more than 2450 professionals in Oromia Regional State May 2010 – August 2010 Description: USAID/AIDSTAR – One project works with the aim to expand/strengthen safe injection interventions to 186 health centers in Oromia Region to assure that each injection given is safe and necessary and does not pose a risk to the patient, health care provider or community. ABH trained 2,453 healthcare providers, pharmacists, laboratory technicians and other professional working in health care facilities in just three months’ time. All logistic, administrative and technical support was provided by ABH. ABH is applauded by the client for its remarkable performance in covering a wide geographic area and training different levels of health professionals in such short period of time without compromising the quality of the trainings.

Provide On-Site Trainings (OST) on Palliative Care, Clinical Nutrition Care for People Living with HIV/AIDS and Infection Prevention & Patient Safety Description: This is an agreement between Johns Hopkins University/ Technical Support for the Ethiopian HIV/AIDS ART Initiative (JHU/TSEHAI) and ABH for the later to provide technical and logistic support to the onsite trainings to be delivered in JHU supported health facilities in Addis Ababa, Benishangul Gumuz and Gambella regions. ABH assigns trainers, admin assistants and other personnel necessary to conduct the trainings in different regions.

Preparation of FMIP Training Manuals, Provision of Training of Trainers, Mentoring and Training Materials to Regional Training Teams in Facilitation of the Wereda Training Programme (ongoing) Description: This contract agreement was entered between WFP Ethiopia, DRFMSS and ABH with the following major tasks to be accomplished by ABH; preparation of training manuals (Facilitator and Participant) trainings aids, piloting of training materials, conducting of 3 rounds of ToT and rolling of regional, zonal and wereda level trainings for 2500 individuals across the country.

       

Provide training on Basic ART for physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, health officers; and M & E of ART program for health care workers and data clerks in rounds December 10, 2008 – February 13, 2009 Description: ABH organized, Managed and delivered training courses to the professional staff and assure the technical quality of all trainings. The trainings include Basic HIV Care and Anti-Retroviral Treatment Course for Physicians and Pharmacists, and Comprehensive ART/HIV Course for Nurses and Data Clerk’s training.

World Learning Ethiopia

Provision of training for implementing partner organizations on Project Planning, Monitoring and Management, March 2011. Description: Under the supervision of WLE’s HIV prevention in Large Scales Construction Sites Project, adapt training manual from existing relevant/related national (and international as and when necessary) manuals for the training to Implementing partner organizations. The training was organized for mid-level program personnel to increase their knowledge in the areas of program planning, management and monitoring & evaluation. ABH assigned experienced trainers to deliver the training.
